8 Easy Ways to Cut Business Expenses

1.  If you have been forced to downsize a bit, and can no longer use your expensive phone system, consider selling it and using a online VOP Service like eVoice.  I have been using e-Voice for about 5 years now, and love it!  eVoice is perfect for individuals or businesses that want their calls answered and routed professionally, without the hassle of an extra employee.  eVoice provides secure, private, voice services with all the advanced features of an expensive phone system.  Extremely cost effective with monthly plans that anyone can afford, PLUS, they give you a 6 MONTH trial!

2.  Buying Business checks can be expensive.  I have long stopped buying these outrageously expensive computer checks (I guess it wasn’t such a big deal before the tight times).  Try to find more moderately priced checks.  I find that a good company is Compuchecks.  I like them because I get the best of both worlds; I get affordability with quality of service.  They still ask you to fax over a copy of your check so that no errors are made on YOUR end.  Not that many companies do that anymore since they feel that YOU typed in the information and if it is wrong, it is on YOU…not them.  Compuchecks is a good one.

3.  Make sure that you are with a Hosting company that will give you unlimited domains within one account.  If you are like me, you are constantly trying new things, and therefore needing a new domain name and website…even if you are just trying things out.  Make sure that your hosting company will allow you to add on as many domains as you want without charging you extra.  The one I use is Startlogic.  I love this company.  They give EXCELLENT service all of the time!  I switched over to Startlogic many years ago when every other hosting company was charging double, sometimes triple what they were charging.  That was the best decision I ever made, and is still saving me a bundle!   (Oh yeah, I can’t take all the credit for this one…my IT professional turned me on to them, so it came with his seal of approval).

4.  Buy books, CD’s, and software used from Amazon.com, or E-bay.  Do we REALLY care if a DVD has been used by someone else???  NO!  You can really get software SUPER cheap if you are willing to buy it used and even cheaper if you don’t just HAVE to have the latest release of the software.  Unless you are a techie, I doubt if you will notice!

5.  If you are paying your accountant to do your payroll, STOP immediately and get Paychex to do it.  I have come to the conclusion that no one can do payroll cheaper than the payroll companies.  I know companies still doing this the old fashioned way, and paying through the nose.  Trust me.  Paychex.

6.  If you are still organized as a sole proprietor, speak to your accountant about the benefits of Incorporating.  If you are like me, it may save you a bundle!  When you are ready to act, consider going through Legal Zoom.  I don’t want to tell you not to get your incorporation done by a lawyer, you should definitely consult with one, but they are going to charge you thousands of dollars to do what Legal Zoom will do for you for under $400.00  Check out all of your options!

7.  One of my favorite ways to save money is with something that I call the “Double Punch Deal.”  This is when you get an extra benefit from purchasing.  Credit Card Companies are he most famous for this with their “rewards’ programs for either cash back or points towards travel.  Anyone who has a rewards program of some sort gets my business these days.  For example, North American Power gets my electricity business because they offer me FREE electricity when I refer 10 people.  They also donate $1 each month to the charity of my choice, AND are committed to the Green Movement!

8.  Use the bidding websites like Plundr.  This is something was has just developed within the last 5 or so years…the bidding website.  If you have time to do it, you can really get some great deals.  Who wants to pay full price for anything anymore when you don’t have to!

More Info....
Business Loans are hard to find these days, other than traditional banks and the SBA, but there is now another option.   Prosper.com  is the market leader in peer-to-peer lending—a popular alternative to traditional loans and investing options.   They cut out the middleman to connect people who need money with those who have money to invest...so everyone prospers!      If you need help with credit repair, I whole-heartedly suggest Lexington Law.  VERY affordable, about $99.00 per month and they really do a great job fairly quickly.

Lastly, if you feel as if you are drowning in debt and bankruptcy seems as if it is the only option for you, here is a website you can go to for a free bankruptcy evaluation with BankruptcyRights.com.  No one REALLY wants to choose that option, but this is a good place to start your research.

So that’s it!  My two cents about saving money.  Once you start doing it, it’s hard to stop…and people start calling you the “F” word (Frugal).  Oh, well, there are worse “F” words to be called.
